What is bluesky search?
Bluesky search is the act of querying the public Bluesky network for posts and accounts — and this page is a free bluesky search tool that does it without requiring a login. It runs your keywords against the network's public search endpoints (app.bsky.feed.searchPostsV2 for posts and app.bsky.actor.searchActors for people) and renders the results as readable cards.
Because Bluesky is built on the open AT Protocol, its search index covers public posts network-wide. A bsky search here sees the same public content the official app's search sees — minus the login screen.
How the bluesky search tool works
Every query you type is sent to the public AppView search endpoint and answered with live results: posts matching your keywords, newest or most relevant first. The bluesky search page then renders author, text, images, engagement counts and links to the original posts.
Two extra filters make the bsky search genuinely useful: from:handle.bsky.social restricts results to a single author, and lang:en or lang:de restricts them to a language. Combined with the Top/Latest toggle, you can recreate most everyday search workflows.
Searching posts with the bluesky search
The Posts tab is the heart of the tool. Use it to follow a news story across the network, find first-hand accounts of an event, research what people say about a product, or locate your own old posts. Sorting by Latest makes the bluesky search feel like a live feed; sorting by Top surfaces the strongest matches.
Finding people with bsky search
The People tab answers "who should I follow?". It returns matching accounts with display name, handle, bio and follower count, so you can judge relevance at a glance before opening the profile — in the viewer or on Bluesky itself.
Tips for better bluesky search results
- Use quotes for exact phrases: "bluesky search" matches the phrase, not the words.
- Add from:handle.bsky.social to search one account's posts.
- Add lang:de or lang:en to focus on one language.
- Latest sort is best for breaking events; Top sort for research.
- Combine filters: quotes + from: + lang: works in one query.
- Open any result on bsky.app to see the full thread and replies.
Privacy notes
This bluesky search keeps its distance: queries are passed to the public search API, results are cached for under a minute, and nothing you type is stored or profiled. Search result pages with a query attached are marked noindex, so your bsky searches never pollute search engines either.
The tool only surfaces content that is already public on the network — the same posts and profiles any logged-out visitor could find.
From results to research
A good bluesky search session rarely stops at the first page. Open the strongest posts at the source, follow the reply threads, and note which accounts keep appearing — then run a second bsky search on those names to map the conversation. The People tab doubles as a discovery engine: bios and follower counts tell you who is worth a follow once you do create an account.
Because every result card carries its engagement counts, you can also use bluesky search as a rough pulse check — how fast a topic is moving, which posts are getting traction, and whether coverage is broad or concentrated among a few loud accounts.
